Mountain Lion
Hunts of a Lifetime is proud to offer
Dry Ground Mountain Lion hunts for trophy Mountain Lion throughout
southern Arizona. Our hounds are excellent at tracking the elusive
cougar on dry ground in the mountains of southern Arizona. We have
taken cats recently ranking as high as #4 SCI. These hunts are offered
one on one for horseback and on foot for only the strong at heart. Our
hunts are highly successful but very strenuous. If you are in for a
real challenge, let Hunts of a Lifetime take you on a Mountain Lion
hunt Southwestern Style!!!
Coues Whitetail
Four-day trophy hunts offered in several
mountain ranges in Arizona in the Coronado, Tonto and Sitgreaves
National Forests or on private ranches in search of the beautiful and
elusive deer commonly known as the "Gray Ghost". These are our most
popular hunts and are guided one on one or two on one from very remote
base camps only accessible by 4 x 4 vehicle or by backpack. We have
taken numerous outstanding deer on these highly successful hunts with
three of our bucks ranking in the top ten SCI and many others making
the record books. These hunts require our hunters to be in excellent
physical condition known as "sheep shape". Permits are issued by draw
only for rifle or muzzleloader hunts and over the counter for archery.
NOTE: Whitetail hunters should
also see the package hunt offered later in this packet for outfitted
camps with other hunters.
Elk
Seven day hunts in the mountains of
Northern and Eastern Arizona for the largest Elk in the world. We have
taken several outstanding bulls on these hunts in the last three years
including the former Safari Club International #1 Non-Typical Archery
bull and two other top ten Safari Club bulls. Early hunts with
muzzleloader or archery tackle are during the rut and provide the most
exciting hunting. These hunts are guided one on one out of wall tent
base camps reached by 4 x 4 vehicles. These hunts are also offered on a
two on one basis at a reduced rate, which may be negotiated at the time
of booking. Most permits for these hunts can be difficult to draw
depending upon the hunters weapon and season of choice
Black Bear
Four-day hunts along the Mogollon Rim of
central Arizona and several of southeastern Arizona 's mountain ranges.
These hunts are conducted like no other bear hunts in the world in that
the bears are hunted in the cactus while they eat the delicious fruit
of the prickly pear cactus. On occasion, we have seen in excess of
fifteen bears a day during this brief phenomenon of late summer. Our
hunting techniques are very similar to our Coues deer hunts with big
optics and remote country being the key. In 1999, we took eight bears
with one behemoth topping the scales at over 550 pounds. If you like
exciting hunts, hunting in shorts, and you can stand August in Arizona
, this is the hunt for you! These permits are available over the
counter and our bears are huge, so be sure to book early to ensure your
spot in the books!
Rocky Mountain Mule Deer
Five-day Rifle hunts or five day Archery
hunts in Northern and Eastern Arizona. This hunt also includes the
famed North Kaibab if a true MONSTER is what you are after. All rifle
hunts are by draw and archery hunts are over the counter. These hunts
are guided one on one from wall tent base camps accessed by 4 x 4
vehicles. These hunts are also offered on a two on one basis at a
reduced rate, which may be negotiated at the time of booking.
Additional days may be added at $500.00/day per hunter. Some rifle
hunts may be difficult to draw ( North Kaibab hunts).
Desert Mule Deer
Five-day hunts in Southeastern Arizona
on public land, private ranches, or National Forest land for this
desert dwelling Mule Deer sub-species. These hunts are guided one on
one from easily accessed wall or dome tent base camps. We have taken
some outstanding bucks on these hunts in recent years. Rifle permits
are issued by draw only and archery permits are available over the
counter. This hunt is also offered on a two on one basis at reduced
rates to be negotiated at time of booking. In 2001, our hunters took
three Top Ten SCI Muzzleloader Desert Mule Deer including the new #1
SCI. Success in 2001 was 100% with all hunters harvesting their deer on
the first hunt day.
Antelope
Three-day hunts for animals with
magnificent heads. Arizona has the largest antelope in the world, but
is one of the toughest states in which to draw a permit. These hunts
are guided one on one from dome tent base camps or hotels. These hunts
are also available on a two on one basis at slightly reduced rates
negotiable at time of booking.
Javelina
This minimum two day hunt is one of our
favorites. We hunt out of base camps accessible by 4 x 4 vehicles in
the mountains of southeastern Arizona . The archery hunt in January can
be paired with archery Coues Whitetail or Desert Mule Deer for a slight
additional fee negotiable at time of booking. These hunts are designed
for either one on one or two on one and usually involve groups of up to
six hunters. Javelina permits are issued by draw only with an October
application date; however, some permits are often available first
come/first served up until the day of the hunt. Large groups of up to
fifteen hunters can be accommodated on an outfitted
camp/limited-guiding basis depending upon availability.
Turkey
These minimum two day hunts in Northern
and Eastern Arizona and private ranch land in southwestern New Mexico
occur during the peak of the breeding season in April and May. This
hunt pairs the hunter against the gobbler at very close range with
excited birds ready for love. (Nothing compares to a strutting,
drumming, gobbling Tom at ten paces except for maybe a rut crazed bull
Elk screaming in your direction while you are at full draw) All hunting
is done by calling only. We will not allow rifle hunting for turkeys on
our hunts due to safety reasons. These hunts are conducted from wall or
dome tent base camps accessed by 4 x 4 vehicles. Permits are by draw in
Arizona (October application date) and are over the counter in New
Mexico. A second bird may be harvested in New Mexico for a slight
additional fee negotiated at time of booking. These hunts are guided
one on one but two on one is available at a reduced rate negotiable at
time of booking. Hunters should be in good to excellent condition as
some sprinting may be involved in a successful harvest. Note: Hunter
education is recommended but not required for Turkey hunting.
Outfitted Whitetail Camps
We usually offer at least one
outfitted/limited guiding hunt for Coues Whitetail during one or more
of the fall Rifle Whitetail hunts in Arizona . These hunts usually
involve a remote base camp with wall tents and dome tents and attract
groups of four to twelve hunters. These camps are reached by four wheel
drive vehicles and are staffed by at least two licensed professional
guides and usually at least one cook. These hunts are very enjoyable
and usually very successful. Most hunters return year after year and
always go home happy. Please call for availability and for season dates
prior to the application dates of Arizona.
